Starting with the spark plug wire noted in step 4, position the cap on the distributor and install this spark plug wire on the terminal that the distributor rotor is aligned to.ġ4. Lift distributor straight up to remove from the engine. Loosen the distributor hold down clamp and rotate the clamp to the side or remove. Disconnect all other wires to distributor, noting where they were attached.Ħ. If necessary, mark spark plug wires and remove them from the distributor cap.ĥ. Once noted, mark for reference, remove cap and lay to the side. Reinstall the distributor cap briefly to check that the rotor and the #1 spark plug wire are in line.
